PENN YAN, N.Y. — The Penn Yan district campus is closed on Tuesday due to a threat, the school district confirmed.
According to the Penn Yan Police Department, they received a report stating that the school received two voicemails of someone making threats against the school. Officers found the number calling and traced it back to a student, going to the student’s residence and bringing them to the police station with their parents, police said.
Police said the student admitted to making the calls and will be facing charges as a juvenile.
The district said parents were notified by email and robocall. Students who were picked up were dropped back off. Elementary students weren’t picked up.
