UPDATE: Man arrested for shooting a woman on Oregon Street

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Police have arrested 31-year-old Akech Deng for shooting a woman in northern Rochester on Monday morning. RPD Officers said they found Deng with minor cuts to his upper body as they were investigating the shooting.
The investigation started at around 2:40 a.m. when police responded to Rochester General Hospital for a walk-in gunshot victim. The 37-year-old woman said she was shot on Oregon Street near Harrison Street. She is expected to survive.
When RPD was investigating that shooting, they got a report at around 3:30 a.m. of a stab victim on Portland Avenue near Rosemary Drive. Officers said they found Deng, who was taken to RGH to treat his minor cuts.
After Deng was released from the hospital, he was taken to Monroe County Jail. He is facing second-degree assault and weapons charges.
