Police make arrest in robbery of ESL Credit Union on Merchants Rd.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Police said there was a bank robbery at ESL Credit Union on Merchants Road on Monday afternoon.
When Rochester police arrived at ESL at around 1:15 p.m., they learned that a suspect had displayed a note to the teller demanding cash. Police said the suspect then ran away with an undisclosed amount of money.
Shortly after RPD responded, officers spotted a car matching the description of the getaway vehicle at a gas station on Monroe Avenue. Police arrested 50-year-old Hugh Mahoney.
Mahoney is charged with robbery and grand larceny. He is expected to be arraigned sometime on Tuesday.
