ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A local faith group celebrated its longtime leader as he handed over the reins to his successor. Rev. Lewis Stewart helped to found the United Christian Leadership Ministry of Western New York back in 2013.
Since then, he’s been “speaking truth to power, with love” as an advocate for the city’s Police Accountability Board and bail reform laws.
He passed the torch to Rev. Dr. Dwight Fowler. Stewart said he has big plans for his future. Stewart also spoke about his plans.
“I think I really want to get into a lot of the reading that I’ve been yearning to get into more so,” Stewart said. “I’ve always been prolific in history, ancient history, and medieval history and 19th century history in that sense. I’m a Trekkie and so I want to get into writing science fiction. I’ve already got three chapters done.”
Fowler says he plans to expand the program into helping families raise strong, peaceful children.
