ROCHESTER, N.Y. — TSA officials at the Rochester airport said a man had an undeclared gun packed in his carry-on bag. This is the second time this year that security officials have found a gun at an airport checkpoint at the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester Airport.
TSA officials said the gun they found at the checkpoint on Saturday was not loaded but the carry-on contained a manila envelope containing 18 bullets and an empty gun magazine.
The man told officials he forgot to properly declare the gun at his airline check-in counter. He was allowed to properly check-in the weapon and then go through security.
Passengers are allowed to travel with guns only if they’re in checked baggage, properly packaged, and declared at their airline ticket counter. TSA has details on how to properly travel with a gun posted on its website.
