UPDATE: Injuries not life-threatening after minivan crash into parked fire truck Thursday
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Investigators are still looking into a crash that happened Thursday night outside the fire station on Andrews Street, in which a minivan struck a parked Rochester Fire Department engine.
The crash happened around 7:25 p.m., when the minivan heading east on Andrews Street hit the back of the fire truck at a high rate of speed, and firefighters responded immediately. The three people in the minivan were extricated from the vehicle and taken by ambulance to area hospitals. Their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening, according to the City of Rochester.
The fire truck (Engine 3) was parked in the median and marked by cones and reflective tape for visibility. .
The crash happened around 7:30 on Tuesday night. The truck was parked in front of a median on Andrews Street in front of the Rochester Fire Department headquarters. The crash moved the engine several feet and caused significant damage to both vehicles.
It’s too early to tell whether the fire engine is repairable, according the city Communications Director Barbara Pierce: “As for the truck, we are assessing all the different complex systems (electrical, plumbing, etc.) that make up a fire engine, so it is too early to say.”
