RPD: Argument leads to gunfire, crash, and at least one arrest

Updates on local, state and national News are detailed by the News10NBC Morning Team, along with traffic, sports and the weather forecast.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police say an argument led to gunfire breaking out, a two-car crash, and at least one arrest on Wednesday morning.

RPD got reports of gunfire on St. Paul Street and Tyler Street on the city’s northeast side around 12:30 a.m. and reports of a crash on Dewey Avenue and Birr Street soon after. After responding, officers determined that both cases were related. No one was hit by the gunfire.

RPD says several people inside the two cars that crashed were involved in an argument on St. Paul Street that led to the gunfire. The cars crashed after leaving that area.

Officers detained multiple people on Dewey Avenue and say they found a loaded illegal handgun. City resident Zaire McKiver, 23, is now charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

News10NBC’s photojournalist saw officers shut down several streets around Dewey Avenue during the investigation.
