HENRIETTA, N.Y. – Students at Fyle Elementary were on a two-hour delay Wednesday morning while deputies searched the area for a man believed to be armed with a gun.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle around 4:35 a.m. on Campus Drive. Deputies say a man ran off with what appeared to be a long gun. The deputy chased him. Meanwhile, the vehicle drove off.
More deputies responded, set up a perimeter, and searched the area using K-9s and drones. Beckwith Road between Bailey and Lehigh Station was closed to traffic.
Neighbors in the area were told to shelter in place. Fyle Elementary enacted a two-our delay.
“The area was thoroughly searched and there is no threat to the community,” according to the sheriff’s office.
