ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police are searching for whomever killed a 63-year-old woman.

Myrtle Watson, 63, was found dead in a downstairs apartment on Sixth Street around 1 o’clock Saturday.

Capt. Frank Umbrino, head of the Major Crimes Unit, said Watson had upper body trauma. He declined to be more specific about her cause of death.

Investigators believe Watson was dead for several hours before her body was discovered. She lived alone in the apartment.

A neighbor who asked not to be identified said this is an uncommon occurrence on a quiet street.

“Not often that anything like this happens in the street, usually very quiet. So we like to take pride on the street and we’d like to be more safe where the kids play around and move around. And I have my own grandkids and all the people here have grandkids and kids of their own,” the neighbor said.
