Spencerport school bus collides head-on with vehicle

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A head-on crash involving a Spencerport school bus happened Thursday afternoon in Rochester.

The collision happened at approximately 2:35 p.m. at Dewey and Driving Park Avenues in the city.

The bus was taking two students home from a private school when it was hit.

The district tells us those students and the driver involved are safe and not injured. They have all been checked out and released by the medical crews on the scene.

Spencerport Central School sent out the following statement:

“This afternoon one of our buses was involved in an accident on Dewey Avenue at Driving Park Avenue. First and foremost, we are relieved and grateful that our students and driver involved in the accident are safe and have no injuries. They have all been examined and released by the medical personnel on scene.

We can confirm that at approximately 2:35 p.m. our Spencerport Bus #302 was transporting two students home from a private school when the serious head-on collision occurred. We are cooperating fully with the Rochester police department in their investigation.

We commend our driver and transportation director for their quick action to support our students throughout the scary and concerning situation.”
