BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Another local college is joining the trend of transitioning to a university.
SUNY Brockport announced on Thursday that it is now formally recognized as a university. The new status follows the New York State Board of Regent’s updated guidelines.
The university will continue to be known as SUNY Brockport but the official title will change from “State University of New York College at Brockport” to “State University of New York Brockport”.
Brockport now joins St. John Fisher and Roberts Wesleyan in changing their status to a university. Nazareth will become a university on June 1, 2023.
