ROCHESTER, N.Y. Safety at our schools was the topic of a forum on Friday with local superintendents.
It was an opportunity to let the community know about continued security upgrades at area schools like cameras, door entry changes and staff awareness as well as regional partnerships. Superintendents also talked about crisis intervention and mental health services playing a role in violence prevention.
“It’s no longer about these concrete things that we’re buying or doing,” said Kathleen Graupman, Greece Central School District Superintendent. “It’s really looking at collective ownership over the safety of our children and our community.”
The discussion was live streamed and open to the public. The Public Schools In Action Roundtable series was started in 2020 to keep the community up-to-date during the pandemic.
