ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Work is completed on the new Sutter’s Marina on Irondequoit Bay.
The new structure can withstand floodwaters that damaged the previous facility. The marina got a $233,000 construction grant as part of the New York State Resiliency and Economic Development Initiative.
Monroe County Executive Adam Bello cut the ribbon on the new facility and explained why this project is good for our local economy.
“The catastrophic economic effect of the flooding had on our economy was incredible but it wasn’t just the damage to the infrastructure that was devastating,” Bello said. “The flooding also meant that our boaters couldn’t access their submerged docks. That meant the waterfront businesses, including the Sutter’s Marina here, suffered.”
The new marina is home to offices, a supply shop and a newly-fortified fuel pump dock.
