Deputies: Stolen car causes crash in Henrietta; Driver charged with DWI

HENRIETTA, N.Y. — Two people are facing charges after Monroe County sheriff’s deputies say they were riding in a stolen car that caused a crash in Henrietta.

The alleged driver is charged with driving while intoxicated. The crash happened just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday on Jefferson Road near Clay Road.

Deputies say they caught a passenger in the stolen Toyota, 38-year-old Ryan Burns of Perinton, as he was running from the scene. Deputies say the public helped them to catch the driver, 37-year-old Casey Clohessy of Rochester, as she was fleeing.

Both suspects had minor injuries from the crash and were taken to the hospital. No one else was injured. Deputies determined that the car was stolen from the city.

In addition to Clohessy’s DWI charge, she’s also charged with possession of stolen property, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. She was arraigned and taken to the Monroe County Jail because of outstanding warrants from Monroe County Court and the Irondequoit Police Department.

Burns was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was arraigned and released.
