Water main repaired after break, flooding on Norton Street

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Water flooded Norton Street near Seneca Avenue on Thursday after a water main broke. News10NBC went to the scene around 11 a.m. and saw water rushing into the sewer.
According to the city of Rochester, 40 properties were affected, and the city expected it would take until sometime in the evening to fix. Crews handed out bottled water to those affected on Norton Street until it is fixed.
By Thursday night the water main had been replaced and water service restored by 8 p.m., according to city spokesperson Barbara Pierce. There is no word yet on a cause.
