Cannabis groups host symposium about job opportunities, eliminating stigma
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Several local cannabis groups hosted the Science of Cannabis Symposium on Saturday at the Rochester Public Library. It was meant to educate people about job opportunities in the cannabis industry.
The event featured science sessions, hands-on workshops, and information sessions from cannabis industry experts.
Organizers say Saturday’s event aimed to eliminate some of the biases surrounding the cannabis industry, especially in light of the recent cannabis busts across Monroe county.
“It’s an actual emerging workforce industry that requires education — not just for the consumer but those who have power, so they can make sure people are making informed decisions,” said Brandi Hester, co-founder of Entertaining and Elevating with Cannabis.
Organizers urge, with Election Day coming up, that people be mindful of where candidates stand on cannabis regulations, and whether there are conversations being made to address concerns about working in the indistry.
