First Alert Weather: Enjoy Sunday before storms arrive on Memorial Day
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — We saw a good amount of rain fall on Saturday, and on Sunday morning we are left with the lingering moisture in the form of clouds and fog.
The foggy and cloudy start to our Sunday will continue through most of the morning hours, but sunshine breaks through by the afternoon. We will remain on the dry side Sunday afternoon, and Sunday will be a much better day for outside activities when compared to Saturday. Partly cloudy skies Sunday afternoon will let us warm up into the mid and upper 70s.
The dry weather will continue into early Sunday night before a few showers become possible after midnight. A warm front lifts through Sunday night with a few showers possible after midnight. A “Yellow Alert” remains in effect for our region on Memorial Day because of the widespread showers and storms expected on the holiday.
By daybreak on Memorial Day, we will likely be dry but stuck under mostly cloudy skies and sticky conditions as dew points increase. A few showers will pop up from time-to-time Monday morning which means for any Memorial Day remembrances and parades make sure you bring the rain gear. A greater chance for showers and storms will pop up in the afternoon and those showers and storms will stick around for much of the afternoon hours on Monday.
Storms that pop up Monday afternoon will have the chance to drop locally heavy rain and produce some strong gusty winds, but our severe threat remains very limited. Showers and storms continue into early Monday night before things eventually dry out by Tuesday morning.
