Walgreens letter to Mayor Malik Evans reveals efforts to replace closing Rochester pharmacies
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Walgreens says it’s supporting the City of Rochester’s efforts to replace its soon-to-be-closed locations with other drug stores or health care service providers.
This comes as Walgreens is set to close five Rochester stores, some in neighborhoods that are already pharmacy deserts.
Walgreens shared a letter with News10NBC that it sent to Mayor Malik Evans. The letter reveals Walgreens had a meeting with the city on Wednesday.
Walgreens says it’s reminding its locations’ landlords that there is nothing preventing them from re-tenanting the locations with other pharmacies or health care service providers.
The letter also indicated that the landlord of the West Main Street location is willing to work with the city on a lease buyout.
