Walgreens plans to close up to 25% of its stores

Walgreens is planning to close stores amid what the CEO calls a “challenging environment” for pharmacies and consumers.

CEO Tim Wentworth said he plans to close as many as 25 percent of Walgreens stores, but he won’t say which ones. That amounts to about 2,150 stores.

Walgreens cut prices on about 1,300 items last month, but that hasn’t been enough to boost its bottom line.
