New YMCA coming to Canandaigua thanks to $13.5M gift
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (WHEC) — There will be a new YMCA in Canandaigua, thanks to a $13.5 million gift from the Sands Family Foundation.
The money will be used to build a 75,000 square-foot facility on land donated by Constellation Brands at the corner of North Street and North Bloomfield Road in the city of Canandaigua.
The YMCA says the facility will have multiple gyms, including one with turf, three studios for group exercise, and two pools with an indoor splash playground. On-site medical services and a full-day licensed child care center will also be part of the project.
