ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A gymnasium is now dedicated to a loving father, coach and center for youth mentors.

The community is still in mourning since Kevin Parker died last month, but they’re also celebrating his life.

His name is now a permanent part of the center for youth’s "A Bridge to Peace" program.

It’s aimed at restorative practices for young people.

Friday night Parker’s daughter, Alexis Windom, was at the ceremony to talk about her father’s impact.

"I can say my dad was a great man and I’m happy that he wasn’t just a father to me,” Windom said. “He was a father to the community."

Assemblyman Harry Bronson (D, 131) was also at the ceremony presenting "A Bridge to Peace" with a $50,000 grant.
