NY State Fair places ban on smoking on grounds, but will have designated areas

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WHEC) — The food, games, and rides may be a little more enjoyable.

Smoking was already banned inside building and concert venues, but allowed on the fairgrounds. Now it will only be allowed in designated smoking areas. They have yet to be determined.

"This is an important step to create an environment that not only protects our vulnerable but also supports those who have quite or are trying to quit, all while maintaining a family-friendly and fun event," said Ondondaga County Health Commissioner Dr. Indu Gupta.

The 2022 New York State Fair is set to run Aug. 24 – Sept. 5 in Syracuse.
