Paving, sign structure work on I-390/I-490 interchange to cause delays

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The New York State Department of Transportation is alerting motorists of overnight road and ramp closures on the I-390 and I-490 interchange in Monroe County due to paving and sign construction work.

Road closures include:

  • Monday, September 13, I-390 southbound from Lexington Avenue to Lyell Avenue will be closed to traffic from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. A detour will be posted redirecting motorists to take Lexington Avenue eastbound to Lee Road southbound to Lyell Avenue westbound to I-390 southbound.
  • Tuesday, September 14, I-390 southbound from Lyell Avenue to I-490 will be closed to traffic from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., a detour will be posted redirecting motorists to take Lyell Avenue eastbound to Mount Read Boulevard southbound to I-490 westbound to I-390 southbound.

Ramp closures include:

  • Tuesday, September 14, the ramp from I-490 eastbound to I-390 northbound will be closed to traffic from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. A detour will be posted redirecting motorists to I-490 eastbound to Mount Read Boulevard to I-490 westbound to I-390 northbound.
  • Wednesday, September 15, the I-390 southbound off-ramp to Chili Avenue will be closed to traffic from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. A detour will be posted redirecting motorists to I-390 southbound to Brooks Avenue to Buell Road to Chili Avenue.
  • Wednesday, September 15, the Chili Avenue onramp to I-390 southbound will be closed to traffic from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. A detour will be posted redirecting motorists to Chili Avenue to Buell Road to Brooks Avenue to I-390 southbound.
  • Thursday, September 16, the I-390 southbound off-ramp to Lyell Avenue will be closed to traffic from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. A detour will be posted redirecting motorists to exit at Lexington Avenue to Lee Road southbound to Lyell Avenue.
  • Thursday, September 16, the westbound Lyell Avenue onramp to I-390 southbound will be closed to traffic from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. A detour will be posted redirecting motorists to Lyell Avenue eastbound to Mount Read Boulevard southbound to I-490 westbound to I-390 southbound.
  • Friday, September 17, the ramp from I-490 eastbound to I-390 southbound will be closed to traffic from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. A detour will be posted redirecting motorists to I-490 eastbound to Mount Read Boulevard to I-490 westbound to I-390 southbound.

The DOT says the paving work is weather-dependent and drivers are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones.
