ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A new report claims New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his legal team are trying to cut a deal with state lawmakers.
According to the newspaper, The City, Cuomo is promising not to run for a fourth term as long as state officials don’t seek impeachment. However, a source told the paper lawmakers are not biting.
Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie told reporters Monday he has not spoken to the governor and would not be making any deals. He said Cuomo would have to come to him first.
The governor is facing possible removal from office after a state attorney general’s report claims he sexually harassed 11 women and retaliated against one who went public.
Lawmakers taking part in the impeachment investigation into the governor told News10NBC its investigation may run parallel to the report, but it won’t mirror it.
Cuomo has strongly denied accusations.
