WAYNE COUNTY, N.Y. — A crash on Route 104 Friday ended with a woman in the hospital — after being hit by another car while trying to run from police — and a man in custody.
State police say it started just before 5 p.m. with a chase after a larceny complaint from Walgreens in the town of Ontario. Troopers out of Williamson tried to stop the 2008 Honda Accord after the complaint; the vehicle drove off, and a chase stated. They say the suspect crashed on Route 104, westbound, near Lincoln Road, and two people — a male driver and female passenger — got out. The man was taken into custody; the female ran into the eastbound lanes and was struck by an uninvolved vehicle, according to troopers. She was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with a head injury.
The man driving the car was taken into custody and was showing signs of a possible drug overdose, troopers said. Charges have not yet been announced, and State Police say this is still an active investigation.
