Firefighters battle blaze on Daunton Road in Chili

The News10NBC Team details breaking News, Traffic and Weather.

CHILI, N.Y. —A house fire erupted on Daunton Drive around 9:30 a.m. today, causing significant damage to the property.

Neighbor Renee Cropo witnessed the incident and quickly called 911. “I saw some smoke and called 911. Next thing you know, flames shot out everywhere. We ran over there, and everyone got out safe. It was horrible,” Cropo said.

Monroe County sheriff’s deputies and Gates firefighters say no one was injured and the fire didn’t spread to any neighboring homes. Everyone inside the home was able to make it out.

Homeowner Arie Adams described the scene: “There was a wall of fire on my back deck. I picked up what I could think of that were very important, got out, and that’s all I know.”

News10NBC’s photojournalist saw multiple fire trucks at the scene.

Firefighters managed to control the fire in about an hour, preventing damage to nearby homes. One firefighter sustained a minor knee injury while battling the blaze.

Adams and her husband are receiving assistance from family and the Red Cross following the incident.
