Good Question: No more haunted hayride in Williamson?

WILLIAMSON, N.Y. — Let’s answer a good question about a fan favorite that disappeared.
We’re hitting our stride with the fall season, changing leaves, apple picking, corn mazes and more. This also means it’s time for haunts.
Ask anyone around here about what is the best haunted house or hayride and many will tell you it’s out in Williamson. At least it used to be.
Chris asked me:
“What happened to the Haunted Hayride of Greater Rochester in Williamson, N.Y. Dave DeFisher sold it to Entercom / Audacy. It was open before COVID but it’s now gone off the web. Where did all their pages go for it?”
The pages are gone. So is the annual haunt. It’s been off during the pandemic and it’s not coming back.
I reached out to staff at Audacy to see why. I’m told: “Despite many years of a highly successful partnership with DeFisher Farms, Audacy has discontinued the Haunted Hayrides of Greater Rochester annual event due to reorganization and staffing limitations. We thank our thousands of patrons who’ve celebrated Halloween with us over the many years of it’s run.”
So while it’s a no go in Williamson, still other places to check out. Those include Powers Farms in Pittsford with its spooky hayride for families, Nightmare Manor in Henrietta, or the Verhulst Haunted Hayride which opens Friday night in Spencerport.
