ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police have released the name of the man shot and killed on Rau Street near School No. 50 on Tuesday afternoon.

Amir Clark, 20, of Greece was found with a gunshot wound in the middle of the street. RPD still has no suspects in custody and is asking anyone with information to call 911.

No students or staff were harmed and RPD says the victim is not affiliated with the school. According to RPD Captain Frank Umbrino, officers responded to a call shortly after 4 p.m. about a person down and found the man. Umbrino said the school was never at risk.

“At no point in time were any of the students in danger. The entire incident occurred outside. It had absolutely nothing to do with the school, other than the fact that it’s on the street near where the school is,” he said.

A neighbor said there has been crime in the neighborhood but nothing this severe.

“It doesn’t happen very often. There are some problems in this neighborhood, but not to this degree. I’m always worried about my wife’s safety,” the neighbor said.

Police say the victim was involved in an altercation on Rau Street before being shot. Although the motive remains unclear, authorities believe the victim was targeted. Authorities are reviewing school security footage in hopes of identifying the suspect.
