Security camera captures moment motorcycle slams into SUV on Lyell Avenue
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Rochester Police are investigating a motorcycle crash that happened on Thursday afternoon on Lyell Avenue and Glide Street. The motorcyclist, a 35-year-old man from Greece, is currently being treated for life-threatening injuries at Strong Memorial Hospital.

According to Rochester Police, an officer was stopped in traffic westbound on Lyell Avenue near the intersection with Glide around 4:42 p.m. when he witnessed a Yamaha motorcycle passing cars on the shoulder, using the bike lane, at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle hit an SUV that was trying to make a turn.
The officer turned on his emergency lights and blocked traffic so he could help the motorcyclist.
Police have not told News10NBC the status of the motorcycle driver, and there have been no charges filed at this time. There were no injuries in the SUV. Police said at 6:30 p.m. that the intersection would soon be reopened.
