Two people die and driver arrested after crash on I-490 at Culver Road
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Two people are dead and a driver was arrested after a car crashed into a fence and rolled over on I-490 at Culver Road.
New York State Police say four people were inside the car when it crashed just after 9 a.m. on Friday. The fourth person was taken to Strong Hospital for treatment.
News10NBC’s crew at the scene saw at least a dozen fire officials surround the car, which flipped on its top, on the grassy area near the Culver Road Armory. Troopers say the car was heading eastbound on I-490 and they’re still looking into what happened.
“I don’t want to put any thoughts in anybody’s head as to what happened at this point. Basically, we know that the car obviously crashed. The experts will figure out what exactly occurred and what the time frame was,” said State Police Zone Sgt. Timothy Buchholz.
State Police said the driver resisted troopers while they were trying to arrest him. Sgt. Buchholz said they were unsure if the driver was injured in the crash. No charges have been announced at this time.
State Police are asking anyone with video or information about the crash to call them at 398-4100.
