GENESEE COUNTY, N.Y. — An hours-long standoff in Genesee County on Tuesday started after reports of gunfire and ended with a man charged.
Ryan Goldman, 31, is charged with reckless endangerment, accused of firing a gun within 500 feet of a home. Route 5 has finally reopened after being closed between Wortendyke and Hopkins roads near Batavia for almost 10 hours.
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office responded after getting reports of several gunshots outside of a home on Route 5 on Tuesday just before 12:30 p.m. Several houses nearby were evacuated while deputies tried to get the suspect, identified as Goldman, to come out of the home. He was taken into custody after deputies got a search warrant.
Goldman was issued an appearance ticket for Batavia Town Court and released from custody.
