See photos: At least four burglaries overnight around Mount Hope Avenue
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police have several suspects in custody after a string of burglaries at businesses in the city overnight.
News10NBC’s photojournalist was at the scene of five burglaries overnight around Mount Hope Avenue, seeing shattered glass, broken doors, and police collecting evidence.
Officers say they were chasing a car fleeing the scene of a burglary when the car stopped and the suspects ran. News10NBC was at the scene around South Clinton Avenue and Gregory Street where the car stopped when it hit a parked car. We saw officers taking bags of items out of the car.
Police say teens got out of the car and ran. Officers were able to arrest four of them, all ages 15 and 16. After investigating, police learned the car was stolen from Syracuse. Two of the suspects are from Rochester, and the other two are from Syracuse. All the teens were charged with burglary-related offenses for the following locations:
- Hudson Liquor – 1400 Hudson Ave
- Raw Leaf Smoke Shop – 1830 Mt. Hope Ave
- Speedway – 1810 Mt Hope Ave
- Sunoco – 404 Mt. Hope Ave
- Valero – 335 E. Henrietta Rd
The investigation is ongoing, and other charges are being considered.
